Curtains in Singapore: 2026 Buyer’s Guide

What this guide covers

Singapore heat, humidity, and west-facing glare make curtain choice a practical job, not a catalogue browse. This guide walks through fabric layers, how to brief a fitter, and what to lock in writing before you pay a deposit. It is not a ranking of shops.

Prime Decor Furnishing measures, makes, and installs curtains for HDB, BTO, and condo homes islandwide. We do not publish competitor scoreboards or send you to other retailers’ homepages.

Day curtains, night curtains, or both

Most Singapore living rooms need two jobs from one window: soft daylight that still keeps the corridor polite, and real privacy after dark. A single mid-weight drape is often too heavy by day and not dark enough at night.

  • Day curtains — sheer or light-filtering panels that cut glare without boxing the room in.
  • Night curtains — denser, often blackout, for bedrooms, shift workers, and young children.
  • Layered (day and night) — two fabrics on one coordinated track so you can change the room through the day.

West-facing rooms usually need a stronger night layer. North-facing rooms can live with a softer day fabric. Confirm the sun path on site, not from a floor plan.

Headings and tracks that suit HDB and condo windows

Ripple-fold (wave) headings sit neatly on ceiling or wall tracks and pair well with motorised kits. Pinch pleat and double pleat give a tailored living-room look. Eyelet is simple to draw but needs a rod with clearance from bulkheads and AC ledges — common constraints in HDB casements.

Tracks should be measured against the actual reveal, plaster lumps, and curtain-to-sill clearance. Rounded-up “standard sizes” are how panels snag or gap at the edges.

What to ask before you order

  • Will someone measure at the flat, or quote from photos and a floor plan?
  • Is the quote inclusive of tracks, installation, and GST?
  • What is the written lead time from confirmation to install?
  • Does the warranty cover fabric, hardware, and workmanship — and for how long?
  • Are installers in-house, or subcontracted?

Treat a same-day “sign now” push, a deposit well above half the job before measurement, or a quote with no line items as reasons to pause. Ask for the warranty document, not a verbal promise.

Lead time and cost — without invented price lists

Custom curtains in Singapore typically take several weeks from confirmation to install, longer if fabric is indented or windows are non-standard. Basic roller blinds are usually the leaner option; layered day-and-night curtains cost more because you are paying for two fabrics and more hardware. Motorised tracks and outdoor zip blinds sit above indoor fabric work.

Prime Decor Furnishing does not publish a fake “from $X” grid here. Every home is measured; we quote from those measurements. Indoor products carry a three-year warranty.

Outdoor zip blinds vs indoor curtains

Balcony shade is a different product. Outdoor zip blinds run fabric in side zip tracks so wind is less likely to flap the cloth. Ziptrak® is a registered trademark of another brand — it is not a Prime Decor Furnishing product. We supply ZipBlind outdoor zip blinds, including Somfy-motorised options, with a five-year warranty on the zip-blind system.

HDB and condo balcony work often needs managing agent or MCST (and sometimes HDB) approval. Do not assume indoor curtain rules apply on the parapet.

How Prime Decor Furnishing works

We start with a free home measurement. You see fabric in your light, against your walls, before we cut. The Straits Times featured Prime Decor Furnishing for transparent curtain pricing. Indoor curtains and blinds carry three years; ZipBlind outdoor zip blinds carry five.

If you are furnishing a BTO, tell us your key-collection week so sheers can go up for privacy and night layers can follow once renovation dust settles.
